For the Carnivorous Foodie in all of us….by Jessica Chang

Welcome to Meateats!
Here’s a little background info you need to know when reading this blog.

The Paleo Diet:  A lifestyle of eating healthy and “clean”.

“Clean”:  No Processed Food

Food:  Basicaly what cavemen ate on earth.  Ya know, Hunter-Gatherer-Type-Diet.

Hunter-Gatherer-Type-Diet:  MEAT, Veggies, Fruits, Nuts

MEAT:  beef, chicken, fish, pork, ostrich, alligator, beaver, snake, cricket, etc….oh yeah,  and other innards of animals.

Here is a great short informational video about eating Paleo.  Check it out!

A big reason why this blog was started was because of Buyer’s Remorse.  According to Wikipedia, Buyer’s Remorse is an emotional condition whereby a person feels remorse or regret after a purchase. It is frequently associated with the purchase of higher value items which could be considered “bad” although it may also stem from a sense of not wishing to be “wrong”.

We’ve all experienced this.   These emotions could last anywhere from 24 hours to a month or even years!  Have you walked away from a restaurant and felt like you just wasted your money becuase you’re still hungry or had horrible food?  Hopefully your dedicated readership here will pay off for you and incidences of Buyer’s Remorse will decrease in your life.

Restaurants will be rated based on three categories.

1)  QUALITY of MEAT

2)  QUANTITY OF MEAT

3)  COST OF MEAT

These are three important things for people who are on the Paleo Diet or are serious Carnivorous Foodies…am I right people? Come on, who hates it when you go to a restaurant and they give you 5 small pieces of chicken on your large salad of iceberg lettuce that cost $9.95!!  We call it, “YOU GOT JACKED!”

OR, when you order Seafood soup described as having, shrimp, squid, scallops and clams and it turns out your soup only has ONE jumbo shrimp, 2 strips of squid, 1 scallop and 1 small clam all for the cost of $11.95?  What’s up with that?  ”YOU JUST GOT JACKED, BUDDY!”

Well, we are here to report the best places (and some of the worst places) in the best city, Portland, Oregon, that serve the most amount of meat for the cost and have the best quality, (local and tasty).  So please come back and stay tuned!!!
